Nicolas Capron-Manieux is a born and raised New Yorker with roots in Burgundy. He has built his career as a sommelier, event producer and hospitality management professional with over a decade of experience in New York City at such beloved establishments as COTE, Upland, and Peak. In 2021 he founded NCM Sommelier Services with a series of wine seminars in Rhinebeck, NY. Nicolas’s offerings have since grown to a diverse range of experiences, and he is grateful to produce Ayiti Cherie for HAS.
Janice Théard is a first-generation Haitian-American hospitality professional. Her career has taken her through such lauded NYC dining rooms as The Mark by Jean-Georges, Upland, Via Carota, and I Sodi. She has been a key partner in the success of NCM Sommelier Services, and we are proud to have her as a producer and culture coordinator for Ayiti Cherie.
Andrea Stephaich is the great grand niece of HAS founders Larry and Gwen Mellon. She has been passionate about the hospital since she was a child, when her mother helped set up a dental clinic at HAS. She has visited HAS three times and has been involved in fundraising efforts throughout the years.
Madjeen Isaac is a first generation Haitian-American artist whose practice is rooted in home, diaspora, (be)longing, and environmental impact. Isaac reimagines and hybridizes landscapes pulling from elements of her hometown Brooklyn and ancestral homeland Haiti. Central to Isaac’s work is exploring the “lakou”, a communal yard or third space born out of the Haitian Revolution which she re-envisions as ever-evolving sites shaped by environmental and systemic occurrences.
Isaac considers how the diaspora continues to place trust in reimagining new realities: How does one reinvent home away from home? What does it mean to dream sovereign futures into being? Through dream-like, nostalgic portals, she imagines worlds where access and autonomy are reclaimed, rooted in resistance, revolution, and collective care.
