A Brooklyn native and first generation Haitian American, Chef Deborah L. Jean is a New York–based private chef and culinary creative known for her elevated approach to Haitian, Caribbean, and French cuisine. She learned the basics of Haitian-French cuisine from her mother at a young age, and has been cooking ever since. She has helped open esteemed New York restaurants Dominique Ansel’s Bakery, Le Coucou (1 Michelin Star), Le Mercerie and Printemps. Her wide-ranging solo work has included collaborations with De’Longhi, Champagne Henriot, Google, Charleston Wine + Food Festival, and Brooklyn Kura. Her excellence has earned the recognition of industry and media alike with features in Forbes and Time Out. Deborah is a proud member of the Chopped family on Food Network, further solidifying her presence as a rising voice in the culinary world.
Nicolas Capron-Manieux is a born and raised New Yorker with roots in Burgundy. He has built his career as a sommelier, event producer and hospitality management professional with over a decade of experience in New York City at such beloved establishments as COTE, Upland, and Peak. In 2021 he founded NCM Sommelier Services with a series of wine seminars in Rhinebeck, NY. Nicolas’s offerings have since grown to a diverse range of experiences, and he is grateful to produce Ayiti Cherie for HAS.
Janice Théard is a first-generation Haitian-American hospitality professional. Her career has taken her through such lauded NYC dining rooms as The Mark by Jean-Georges, Upland, Via Carota, and I Sodi. She has been a key partner in the success of NCM Sommelier Services, and we are proud to have her as a producer and culture coordinator for Ayiti Cherie.
Andrea Stephaich is the great grand niece of HAS founders Larry and Gwen Mellon. She has been passionate about the hospital since she was a child, when her mother helped set up a dental clinic at HAS. She has visited HAS three times and has been involved in fundraising efforts throughout the years.
